University of Northern Arizona sophomore Kristi Alderson comes to the Starboard Group in the midst of her endeavors to obtain a bachelor’s degree in business. Kristi brings an avid interest in money matters to Starboard, and currently serves as the vice president of finance for the Gamma Phi Beta sorority at NAU.
Kristi says her family is her bedrock and is perhaps the most important influence on her life. In fact, one of the biggest challenges she’s recently faced is adjusting to her parents’ decision to move from her childhood home in Arizona to Colorado just after she left for college. However, Kristi says she has, “learned to love Colorado and all the opportunities here.”
Kristi says she is particularly grateful to be in Colorado right now since her brother Jason, who she considers her mentor, is set to graduate from the University of Denver in a couple weeks.
When not working to ensure she get high grades in school, Kristi tries to spend as much time in the mountains as possible. In the summer she likes to hike with friends, while in the winter she hits the slopes on her snowboard.
Kristi says that a “once-in-a-lifetime” moment came for her when she was free falling through skies over Sedona, Arizona on a skydiving adventure. She also took her thrill seeking international when she went bungie jumping over the North Sea off the coast of the Netherlands.
In ten years, Kristi hopes to be working hard to help support her family, and with any luck spending time at her beach house.
