It’s hard to believe that it has been over two weeks since the Woodrow Wilson Awards Dinner – the most gratifying, exhilarating, challenging, and biggest event I have helped plan since starting at the Starboard Group. Working on the Woodrow Wilson Awards Dinner allowed me to incorporate my love for connecting with people (by working with the Woodrow Wilson Center, Awardees and their staff, sponsors, and potential sponsors) and my passion for event planning. Although it was overwhelming at times due to the organization of every minute detail – centerpieces options, napkin color and fold, entrée selection – I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work on this remarkable event.
When all the guests were seated and I looked around the Seawell Grand Ballroom I was proud of what our team had accomplished. It was an honor to help put on such an elegant event for some of the most well-respected individuals in the Denver Community.
While planning the awards dinner, I had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to conduct many of the interviews for the awardees’ tribute videos. Watching these videos on the big screens gave me a huge sense of pride. The primary reason the videos were outstanding was, of course, because Peter, the videographer and producer, is amazing. However I played a small role myself in asking the questions and hey, I even got Governor Hickenlooper to sing. Look out Oprah!
As I stood downstairs after the Dinner to thank attendees as they were walking out the door, the comments they were sharing solidified my thoughts that we had put together a remarkable event that honored our outstanding awardees, Anna & John J. Sie and Kent Thiry.
“It was such a delightful evening!”
“We had such a wonderful time!”
“It was a special event and a great tribute to very deserving people!”
Thank you to the Woodrow Wilson Center for allowing us to help out on this wonderful event. And, thank you to EVERYONE – our sponsors, vendors, staff, Dinner Chairman, and Awardees – who helped make this night a success!
